:: roses ::

This past weekend, Ryan and I were able to sneak away with some of our closest friends to Portland.  We stayed two nights at the McMenamin's Kennedy School Hotel.  I'm planning a separate post with photos, so I just want to say it was such a nice weekend - relaxing and SO FUN.  We really have the best friends ever and try to get away with them whenever we can.  And what a fantastic place to spend 3 days with them!  Thank you, Grandma and Bompa (Ryan's folks) for keeping the kiddos and allowing us such an amazing time away!

As always, most good things definitely come to an end, and here we are, back to Monday...

It's rainy, cold and, well...home.  I developed a cold over the weekend (I still didn't let it get me down) and it really hit me hard last night and this morning.  Ryan started his new job today, so I couldn't very well ask him to stay home and help me.  That's ok.  So, I got the kids up, dressed and fed, and we started loading up into the car.  I got the Older Two in, then as I lifted Liam's seat into the car...*#$@&%WREEEEENCH^&@^#$!  There went my back.  Totally pulled it out.  :/  I pulled up to preschool and gingerly got out of the car, ran Aidan in, then ran to the store to get milk for Aidan's Valentine's Day party at school.  I ran it back to preschool, then decided I deserved a hot cup of coffee, so I stopped at Starbucks and headed home with my precious coffee.  I am now cuddled up on the couch with Gia, trying not to move until I have to leave in an hour to go back and get Aidan.  Which means more loading and unloading of bodies.  Sigh...it literally hurts to lift my cup of coffee.

So, back to Ryan's job.  I can't get into too much detail, but to put a long story short, his time at RealNetworks ended last Thursday and he began a new job today with Adobe (in Seattle).  I'm so proud of him.  This is really a good change for him - and us, and will definitely ease some financial stress.  I know this isn't easy for him as he went to Real right from college.  Almost 14 years ago.  I'm praying he settles in quickly, makes friends and loves his job.  So proud.

Happy Valentine's Day!  I think we're going to try to go to dinner somewhere with the kids.  Romantic, huh?  Good thing neither of us really cares about Valentine's Day enough to take it really seriously...
