:: i like you ::

I remember when I was a kid, I would say to my brothers, "I love you...but I don't have to like you." For some reason, that seemed like such a burn. I would walk away, all self-righteously with a fist pump, thinking...."I showed him." Isn't it true, though? Liking is fickle with me. It can come and go easily. It can be hard to hang on to. Loving, though...well, that sticks around. Sometimes out of obligation -yes. But you're luckier if you get a little "like" to go along with it.

Aidan told me today, "Mommy, I like you." I said, "You mean, you LOVE me?" He replied, "Yeah, but I LIKE you too." I cracked a huge grin at him and said, "Buddy, that is a HUGE compliment. And I like you too."
