:: week seven ::

Still tired, but feeling pretty good.  I've had a couple days of hormones/panic/nausea, but luckily they're few and far between.

week 7 week 7

I get crankier easier and driving (other drivers, mainly) makes me madder than normal.  My pants are getting a little snug now, which is annoying.  My uterus has now doubled in size (sorry, I said uterus...doh!).  I now have to constantly pee thanks to increasing blood volume and the extra fluid being processed through my kidneys.  I have 10% more blood volume than before I got knocked up, which will increase to 40-45% at full term!

As for my little one, its little hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs.  Technically, baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of its tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.  Mmmmmm....I love blueberries.  I want some blueberries.  Where was I?  Oh yeah, it has eyelid folds partially covering its peepers, which already have some color, as well as the tip of its nose and tiny veins beneath parchment-thin skin. Both hemispheres of baby's brain are growing, and the liver is churning out red blood cells until the bone marrow forms and takes over this role. Baby also has an appendix and a pancreas. A loop in baby's growing intestines is bulging into its umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from its body.
