mini-vacation

We got back from Orcas Island on Sunday. We went with 3 other couple-friends and stayed at a vacation house in Moran State Park. Fortunately, the weather-people were wrong about the weather (as they usually are around here) and it only rained one day. We were able to spend a lot of time outdoors, as our vacation house was steps away from a beautiful lake that we had all to ourselves, including canoes. After convincing Ryan to let me, I strapped myself into a life vest and climbed into the canoe and we (well, mostly Ryan) rowed around. Robin & Chad and Todd & Amanda were in other canoes; the sun was shining and it was beautiful. I have some pictures that I will post today. The house we stayed in was pretty much stocked with everything except linens and food, so we brought sleeping bags and each couple took a turn making a meal. It was fantastic. All in all, the weekend went too quickly and we could've all used one more day. I had such a relaxing time, got plenty of much-needed rest, and Aidan had a great time at Grandma and Grandpa's. Speaking of...

Aidan has been a stinker with this walking thing. He's had the ability for a couple of months now, but just wouldn't take more than a step or two without reducing to a crawl. That has changed. He's finally decided to walk!!! Yay! His legs are so stiff, but he has great balance and control. I'm a proud mama. Now, if I can just teach him to change his own diaper... :) He has gone potty numerous times on the potty, but I don't think he knows what he's doing yet. I've decided to hold off the rigorous potty training until after Delia comes. His little world is going to turn upside down as it is, and I don't want to make it worse. Well, enough for now. I will post some pictures from the weekend in a bit. Oh! I forgot - Ryan didn't tell me until we were on the other side of the lake that our canoe was taking in water.
